CHAMBERS GALLERY | 2016 | Denver, CO | Remodel/ Change of Use

When our client needed a space to exhibit art outside of his home in California, he saw an opportunity in the expanding art market of Denver. Located directly across the street from City Park in Denver Colorado, we envisioned a new home for the world class psychedelic art that our client had been promoting, collecting, and selling for years. Formerly a photographer's studio and storage space, we looked to refresh this 1907 building, and bring it back to life. Opening up the front façade to showcase the art inside was critical. Open, yet adaptable interior spaces were the focus. The main level and mezzanine were white boxed to showcase the main attraction. Canvases on canvases was the concept. Interior walls would be hung from the brick exterior walls, showcasing the building's structural columns. The roof was to be opened up with ridge skylights for optimal natural lighting during daytime hours. The lower level would serve as a showcase of the art storage, offering a glass wall for viewers to get a glimpse of future and past work being housed on premises. Connecting the three floors was a hoist system to transport the art from storage to gallery or mezzanine.
